When you score 31 points and pitch a shutout in the NFL, there aren't too many people complaining and for the Kansas City Chiefs, the 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders signaled to the rest of the NFL that Andy Reid's team is officially back.
The Chiefs posted over 400 yards of total offense, kept the Raiders to just 95, had 30 first downs to three, didn't allow a third down conversion (Raiders 0/7), ran 77 plays to just 30 and had the football for 42 minutes compared to just 17 for Las Vegas.
Use whatever term you want, that was an old-fashioned butt whopping, and the Chiefs, for CBS Sports' John Breech, get an A+ grade for their efforts.
"For the first time all season, Patrick Mahomes had his full arsenal of weapons available to him on offense and it definitely showed,” Breech wrote. “The defense also pitched the team's first shutout in 14 years. After struggling at times through the first six weeks, the Chiefs officially look like a serious Super Bowl contender.”

It has taken a few weeks, but Kansas City now feels officially back in 2025.
After an 0-2 start, many were sharpening their pitchforks, and now? They've been put away because the beast has awoken.
Given that Patrick Mahomes now has all of his weapons available, plus a run game that was somewhat productive against the Raiders, coupled with a defense that is getting better with each passing week, Kansas City now has its teeth into the season.
At 4-3, the defending AFC champs have just reminded the entire NFL that the road to the Super Bowl, once again, might go through them.
