Chiefs get brutal injury updates on Rashee Rice, Trent McDuffie image

The Kansas City Chiefs received brutal injury updates on wide receiver Rashee Rice and cornerback Trent McDuffie.

Kansas City placed a plethora of players on injured reserve on Wednesday, including Rice, McDuffie, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, and cornerback Jaylen Watson. The Chiefs also made other roster moves.

"We have placed CB Trent McDuffie, WR Rashee Rice, WR Tyquan Thornton, and CB Jaylen Watson on Reserve/Injured. We have signed Practice Squad players DE Ethan Downs, CB Melvin Smith, and TE Tyreke Smith to active roster contracts. We have activated CB Nazeeh Johnson from Reserve/Injured," the Chiefs announced on X.

Rice suffered a concussion in Kansas City's Week 15 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers, and he didn't suit up in Week 16 versus the Tennessee Titans, a game the team lost in blowout fashion.

With just two games remaining, the Chiefs decided to shut down Rice for the season, which is the wise decision. The 25-year-old ends his third year with 571 yards and five touchdowns in eight games.

McDuffie has been dealing with a knee injury and hasn't played since Week 14. With not much progress being made, shutting down the All-Pro corner is also a smart move.

The Chiefs will enter the final two games of the year incredibly banged up. 2025 has been a year to forget the NFL's latest dynasty.
