The life of a backup quarterback in the NFL isn't easy, and you have to be ready at a moment's notice.
For Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chris Oladokun, just two weeks ago, he was the third-string quarterback as the season was winding down. But the football gods intervened, and now he is set to start in his second consecutive game in Week 18.
Given the Chiefs' quarterback situation, Oladokun has a chance to put himself into the coaching staff's thinking for a roster spot next season with a good performance against the Las Vegas Raiders.
But is that what he is seeing this opportunity as?
“Yeah, you could think about it like that, but really my sole focus is on this week and ending the season the right way,” Oladokun said. “I think finishing off with the win will be really good for us heading forward into the offseason and give us some confidence. So I'm really looking forward to playing the Raiders this week.”

Chiefs looking to end season on a high
There isn't much for the Chiefs to gain out of this Week 18 matchup aside from pride and the momentum that will be gained from a win heading into the offseason.
For some, that is huge. For others, it's neither here nor there.
But the Chiefs will want to end this horror show of a season with a win, and in the process, Oladokun might put himself in the good graces of the coaching staff for 2026.
Yes, it is a meaningless game, but there is still much to gain from the last four quarters of football of the season.
A win is a win, after all.
