Chiefs could've had NFL yardage leader to help Patrick Mahomes in nightmare season image

The Kansas City Chiefs had to deal with the worst season they've had in a long time.

They went 6-11. They missed the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL.

Maybe things could've been different if they had approached the 2025 NFL Draft differently.

They picked Josh Simmons at the end of the first round, an offensive tackle.

But in a 2025 re-draft put together by Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, he has Simmons going earlier, and that forces the Chiefs to pick someone else.

He has them select Chimere Dike, the WR who instead went in the fourth round to the Tennessee Titans.

Dike led the entire NFL this season in all-purpose yardage, in part as a superstar kickoff return man.

"Dike didn't produce at a huge clip while playing for two offensively challenged collegiate programs," Sobleski writes. "But he was clearly an explosive threat, which emerged during his first season as a professional. As the season progressed, Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward trusted Dike more and more. Plus, the fourth-round rookie was recognized for his abilities as a returner. Dike led the NFL in punt return average and scored a pair of touchdowns on special teams."

The Chiefs opened the season with Rashee Rice suspended.

Xavier Worthy didn't ascend in his second season.

Travis Kelce continued to show his age.

The running game stunk, which didn't help.

Mahomes never had a guy to count on. Dike wouldn't have changed everything, but he could've added a different element.
