Chiefs consider signing 2 new QBs after injuries to Patrick Mahomes, Gardner Minshew image

The Kansas City Chiefs had two new quarterbacks in the building on Monday.

It was actually a busy day for K.C. -- they had 13 players in for tryouts.

Two of them were quarterbacks, both unheralded players who they just wanted to get a look at.

The Chiefs are in QB limbo. Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL and isn't likely to be ready for the start of the 2026 season. Gardner Minshew is hurt, too.

Chris Oladokun started Week 17 and will start Week 18, too.

So this was just a chance to see two new guys.

The players they tried out:

  • Jordan McCloud
  • Austin Reed

McCloud was a collegiate star at Texas State.

Reed played at Western Kentucky.

The Chiefs also tried out other skill players: RB ShunDerrick Powell, WR Kobe Hudson, WR Andrew Armstron, WR Luke Grimm and TE Zack Kuntz.

The full list included some other players, too:

Kansas City is in a weird retooling phase, and this is just a chance to keep building back in the right direction.
