The Kansas City Chiefs entered the 2025 National Football League Draft with one major hole to fill.
Kansas City's biggest need without a doubt revolved around the offensive line. The Chiefs have talent all across the roster, but the offensive line took a hit this offseason with Joe Thuney being traded away. There already was questions about the offensive line before he was moved, but they have only been amplified.
The Chiefs responded by trading the No. 31 pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the No. 32 pick in the draft and used it to select left tackle Josh Simmons out of Ohio State. The Athletic tabbed the move as the Chiefs' "best value pick."
"Kansas City Chiefs: Josh Simmons, LT, Ohio State," The Athletic's Mike Jones said. "Round 1, No. 32. Why was the 32nd pick such a great value? Because through the first five games of his second season for the Buckeyes, Simmons looked like a lock for All-America honors and displayed such dominance with his blend of athleticism, strength and instincts that most draft analysts started projecting him as a top-five pick. But a midseason patella tendon injury that required surgery caused his draft stock to take a hit. But the Chiefs believe he’s on track to regain full strength and count themselves fortunate that Simmons fell into their laps."

The Chiefs certainly needed to bolster the offensive line and adding Simmons will be an easy way to do so. Kansas City struck gold and it will be interesting to see how the move plays out in 2025.
