Chiefs' Andy Reid is clear on his retirement plans after nightmare season image

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are nearing the end of a season they'd like to forget.

They're officially eliminated from the playoffs with three weeks to spare, and Patrick Mahomes has torn his ACL. Now what?

Well, unlike the uncertainty surrounding Travis Kelce's future, it doesn't sound like Reid is going anywhere.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on the situation in a new article on Saturday, and it's clear the 67-year old Reid is sticking around.

This is what he wrote:

Legendary coach Andy Reid isn't getting fired, and people who know Reid well say he has given no indications he'll walk away at age 67. For the first time in years, he'll finally have a full offseason to recharge. As one person close to him said: "Coach Reid ain't going out like this."

Another said simply: "He'll be back."

There could be one shake-up on the coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is in the final season of his contract, so he could end up elsewhere.

There'll be plenty for Kansas City to figure out. Is Kelce retiring? When will Mahomes be back? What do they do about their lack of a running game?

But they know one thing: Reid will be at the helm. That's as encouraging as it can get this time of year for a team missing the playoffs.
