The Kansas City Chiefs kept their playoff hopes alive with a gritty 23-20 win in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 352 yards, and Rashee Rice had 141 receiving yards, but it was Kareem Hunt who took center stage against the Colts' defense.

Hunt totaled a whopping 30 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown to wear down the Colts' defense and prove that he can still be the bellcow the Chiefs need with Isiah Pacheco still sidelined.

And for head coach Andy Reid, the offensive line deserves big praise for Hunt's monster day.

“I thought the line was controlling things pretty good,” Reid said. “We were getting positive yards on first down, we ran a little on second down likewise, they were dialed up and the guys executed.”

And as far as what Reid thought of Hunt's game?

“Kareem was dusted off, got over 100 yards, which was incredible,” Reid said. “I’m proud of him for that.”

Chiefs keep playoff hopes alive vs. Colts

It was billed as a game the Chiefs had to win, by any means necessary, and while it took an overtime effort, Kansas City didn't blink.

Reid praised his team's mentality as the Chiefs continued to push and fight for everything at Arrowhead and walked out with what could be looked back on in a few weeks as a defining win for the team.

Granted, the Chiefs still have a tough path ahead, but they kept their season alive, albeit only just, and can regroup and go again next week at AT&T Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys.

And who knows, maybe Hunt will be asked to do much of the heavy lifting again.
