The Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars met for a key AFC South matchup in Week 14 at EverBank Stadium, and Jacksonville came out victorious in blowout fashion.
Heading into Sunday's contest, the Colts and Jaguars shared the same record at 8-4. However, Jacksonville's statement win over their division rivals moves them to 9-4, and has made things interesting in the AFC South and playoff picture.
AFC South standings
1. Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4)
2. Indianapolis Colts (8-5)
3. Houston Texans (7-5, will play Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night)
4. Tennessee Titans (1-12)
The Jaguars have now taken sole possession of first place in the AFC South. Liam Coen's squad is on a four-game winning streak and is one of the hottest teams in football.
As for the Colts, the road has gotten tougher. Though Shane Steichen's squad is still second in the division, they could drop all the way to third if the Houston Texans defeat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
Additionally, with quarterback Daniel Jones' status for the rest of the season in serious jeopardy due to an Achilles injury, Indianapolis will have to jump multiple hurdles to get back into contention for the division.
AFC playoff picture
Not only did the Colts drop in the AFC South, but their playoff chances also took a big hit. After the Week 14 defeat, Indianapolis has a 52% chance of making the postseason, while Jacksonville is now at 96%.
The Colts are currently the No. 7 seed in the AFC, but a Texans victory on Sunday Night would knock Indianapolis out of the postseason heading into Week 15.
On the other hand, the Jaguars will remain in the No.3 spot in the conference. Jacksonville will square off against the New York Jets in Week 15
