The Jacksonville Jaguars don't have much choice in the matter of how much to use Jakobi Meyers.

They traded for Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday right before the NFL deadline.

Five days later, Meyers will be in uniform.

The 5-3 Jags are shorthanded for their game against the 3-5 Texans. Brian Thomas Jr. And Travis Hunter are both out.

That leaves Parker Washington to lead the already-in-place wideouts, while Meyers has to find a role.

Is Jakobi Meyers playing this week?

Yes, Meyers is expected to be active for the Jags on Sunday.

How much will he do?

That's less certain.

"The exact challenge is the balance of how much he can handle, how quickly can he get some of the formations down … and just throwing on air with Trev, getting some reps," Jaguars coach Liam Coen told reporters this week. "You want to get him opportunities, but also just to go play as a Jaguar."

Meyers is up for the challenge of learning quickly.

"Anything new is a little challenging, but I'm excited to go through it," Meyers said. "I want to soak this whole experience in, enjoy it and win games."

Jakobi Meyers fantasy outlook

It's tough to trust Meyers this week.

On the one hand, he'll likely see between 5-8 targets for the Jags.

But there's no telling how comfortable he and Trevor Lawrence will be together, and this isn't a high-volume passing offense. The Texans defense they're playing is also solid.

Meyers can be used as a FLEX, especially in PPR leagues, but there's no need to force it. Taking a wait-and-see approach here is fine.
