The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without ascending tight end Brenton Strange for at least the next four games.

Strange was placed on injured reserve after suffering a quad/hip injury in the Week 5 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night that forced his early exit.

While we know Strange will be out for a minimum of four games because of his placement on injured reserve, we don't know if he'll be out longer than that.

Thankfully, an NFL insider has shed light on when we can expect Strange back.

Brenton Strange injury update

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Strange suffered a ligament tear on Monday night, but he is expected to avoid surgery.

However, Schultz adds that Strange will miss "at least five weeks" with the injury, so he could be out longer than the minimum-required IR stint, which is four weeks.

"Sources: Jaguars TE Brenton Strange, who leads the team in catches, is dealing with a quad and hip injury that includes a ligament tear suffered in Monday night’s game vs the Chiefs," Schultz wrote. "My understanding is he doesn’t need surgery, but he will be sidelined at least 5 weeks. Given the circumstances, it’s a positive outcome."

The Jaguars do have a bye in Week 8, so that will not count toward the four-week IR timeline. So, the earliest Strange can return is Week 11 versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

The good news there is that the bye gives Strange an extra week to get right without having to miss another game. We'll be at the five-week mark in Strange's recovery on the week that game rolls around, so it's possible he could be back then.

While it's certainly good news that Strange has avoided a season-ending injury, losing him is a tough blow for Jacksonville's offense.

Not only was Strange quickly cementing himself as a star, he was also the Jags' leading pass-catcher going into Week 5.
