All eyes are on the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback situation for Week 15.

Of course, the Colts signed 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers in the hopes he can save their season with fellow signal-caller Daniel Jones now out for the year with a torn Achilles.

But Rivers only has days to prepare for this week's game against an elite defense in the Seattle Seahawks', and that quick turnaround is only made more difficult by the fact that he hasn't played a single NFL snap in five years.

Rivers not being in football shape was another valid concern, and when you add it all up, the veteran quarterback isn't a lock to start.

Before the Rivers signing, the Colts looked set to start rookie Riley Leonard, whose status was up in the air due to a knee injury, although Leonard is practicing in full, which means he should be good to go.

As we continue to wait for an official decision from the Colts, beat writer and ESPN reporter Stephen Holder is more convinced than ever that Rivers will be the starter.

Here's why:

"Two days in now, and my time in the building this week has left me only MORE convinced Philip Rivers is this week's starting quarterback," Holder wrote. "It isn't difficult to tell who a team is prepping to start. That player is Rivers. Period."

There was always a good chance Rivers would play this week.

After all, he's already familiar with the offense from playing under head coach Shane Steichen from their days together with the Chargers, so there isn't a big learning curve here.

Another important thing to point out is the Colts have very little margin for error after falling out of first place and sitting in the No. 8 spot in the AFC playoff picture, so they need the best man out there, which Rivers figures to be over Leonard, who is inexperienced and unproven.

As far as when the Colts will announce their decision goes, we would expect that to come on Friday, at the earliest, but don't be surprised if the Colts take this decision into the weekend.
