The EA Sports Madden NFL staff had to give Philip Rivers a new rating.
How in the world were they supposed to decide what to rate the Indianapolis Colts' new old quarterback, a guy who hadn't played in the NFL since Jan. 9, 2021?
They did their best.
Fans likely have all sorts of opinions. But as of Thursday, we know the numbers.

What's Philip Rivers' Madden rating?
Rivers' Madden overall rating after being added back in is 70 overall.
These are some of his individual ratings, via Kay Adams:
- 83 throw power
- 81 throw accuracy medium
- 86 throw accuracy short
- 88 play action
- 59 speed
- 57 agility
- 49 juke move
- 65 acceleration

Rivers probably really appreciates that 65 acceleration rating.
If Rivers plays well, he'd likely have a chance to get boosted up pretty solidly in the next roster update.
But the Madden folks couldn't rate him too highly. He may struggle after so much time off.
