The Indianapolis Colts picked up a blowout 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season. The victory moved the Colts to a 4-1 record on the season.
Indianapolis has been the biggest surprise of the early part of the season. Training camp featured a quarterback battle between the veteran Daniel Jones and the younger Anthony Richardson. When Jones was selected as the starter, the choice was heavily criticized, but the quarterback has largely made his doubters eat their words, tallying four wins through the first five weeks of the season.
The Colts' most recent win over the Raiders was a significant one, as Indianapolis scored an impressive 40 points while allowing only six. It was even bigger for Jones, who managed to already cash in on a major incentive on his contract.

Here is more information on how Jones has already met a significant contract incentive in the 2025 season.
Daniel Jones contract
After falling out with the New York Giants and getting released in 2024, Jones signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a backup quarterback. His contract was only for the remainder of that season, so he hit free agency ahead of the 2025 season.
The quarterback signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Colts. It included a $6 million signing bonus and $13.15 million guaranteed. The money for this contract would have made him one of the more expensive backup quarterbacks, but since he is playing each week, it ends up making him one of the cheaper starting quarterback options in the NFL.

Daniel Jones contract incentives
Every NFL contract typically includes some form of bonuses or incentives. Usually, they kick in when a player hits a certain metric, like in a certain stat category, or if they hit a certain snap percentage.
For Jones, there is an incentive in his contract where he can earn $100,000 for each win the Colts have, provided he plays at least 50% of the snaps. Indianapolis won its fourth game of the season in Week 5, and the quarterback has played at least 50% of snaps in each of the wins.
So far this season, Jones has added $400,000 in bonus money to his contract and will continue to receive an additional $100,000 for each win the Colts achieve, provided he plays at least 50% of the snaps.
Other contract incentives for Jones includes $50,000 per game that he is active, a playing time incentive that will kick in if the Colts make the playoffs and then another bonus per playoff win.
