Colts pitched to sign Joe Flacco as Daniel Jones injury replacement image

The Indianapolis Colts received terrible news on Sunday.

Daniel Jones tore his Achilles and is out for the season. With Anthony Richardson still injured, Riley Leonard is the Colts' current QB slated to step in.

A different option might exist: Joe Flacco.

Flacco played for the Colts in 2024. He's been with the Browns and Bengals this season already. Maybe he can move on.

This is what one social media doctor suggested on X on Sunday:

That'd certainly feel just about right.

The Browns sent Flacco to the Bengals so he could fill-in when Joe Burrow went out with injury.

Why not a similar move here?

It seems at this point like teams are allowing Flacco to get his final chances to start, given that his career is almost over.

The Bengals aren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but it's close. If they get rid of Flacco, Jake Browning can be QB2 behind Burrow.

The Colts would surely like a guy like Flacco, or some other veteran. They can't trade for anyone, since it's past the deadline. But if Flacco was released, he could then sign for them.
