Colts fans think they signed a 75-year-old actor to their practice squad image

The Indianapolis Colts generated a lot of attention for a simple practice squad signing.

This is what the official news post from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said on X:

"The Colts signed guard Bill Murray to the practice squad."

No, not the 75-year old actor Bill Murray.

(Although man, that'd be quite entertaining, wouldn't it?)

This Murray is a 28-year old offensive lineman. He's 6-foot-3 and 321 pounds.

This Murray went to William & Murray and is originally from New Jersey.

He came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

Murray spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with the New England Patriots. He went up and down on the practice squad, and he got into one regular season game for three snaps with the Pats in 2022.

After that, Murray went to the Chicago Bears for a couple seasons. He got into three games with the Bears in 2024, including 42 offensive snaps and one special teams snap.

Murray spent just two weeks this season back with the Patriots before being released on Dec. 8.

The Colts will be his third NFL organization. They're adding some depth at a key spot as the season gets late.

Indy has some work to do to get into the postseason, and Murray isn't likely to actually play in gameday action. But he's got another chance to prove himself in the NFL.
