Anthony Richardson is back, sort of.
The Indianapolis Colts have begun his 21-day practice activation window. They have that much time to bring him back from Injured Reserve. If he's not activated from IR by that point, he has to be out for the rest of the season.
This update for Richardson also means he spoke with reporters on Thursday, providing some clarity on his comeback.
One thing Richardson wanted to make clear: His "vision limitations" won't be a big deal.

That's what local radio reporter Kevin Bowen shared on X, adding that Richardson plans to wear his normal visor and not anything special.
Richardson was injured when using a stretching band in pregame warmups, and the metal piece providing resistance to the band broke and hit his face.
It was an orbital bone fracture for Richardson, with reports while he was out indicating that vision had been impaired, too.
Of course, there's no way to know for sure how Richardson's eyes work now compared to previously. But the fact that the Colts are considering bringing him back seems to suggest positively.

Richardson told reporters Thursday that at the time of the injury, he was told he wouldn't play again this year, so this is already a big step.
Whether he gets a chance to take over for Philip Rivers, or if the Colts are even still alive by the time Richardson is activated fully, isn't certain.
But for now, Richardson is just glad to be moving forward on the comeback trail.
