For the second straight week, the Houston Texans won't have quarterback C.J. Stroud on the field.
Stroud has been ruled out for the Week 11 contest against the Tennessee Titans due to the concussion he sustained in Week 9. Stroud has not practiced since suffering the head injury.
While two weeks is typically long enough to recover from a concussion, there is a fear that Stroud might need at least one more game to get right.
Here's the latest injury update on the Texans quarterback.
Will C.J. Stroud return in Week 12?
While nothing has been confirmed yet, it isn't looking good for Stroud's chances of playing in Week 12.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, "it remains uncertain" that Stroud will be able to clear the concussion protocol ahead of the Thursday night game against the Buffalo Bills.
"Texans QB C.J. Stroud is out for Sunday’s game against the Titans, and with Houston having a short week ahead of Thursday night’s game against Buffalo, it remains uncertain whether its starting quarterback will be able to clear concussion protocol in time to play the Bills, per source," Schefter wrote.
As of Friday, Stroud was still experiencing symptoms, according to Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com, which only adds to the pessimism surrounding the Texans quarterback's chances of clearing the protocol on a short week.
For now, it would appear that Stroud has a less than 50/50 shot to suit up in Week 12. We'll know more on Monday when the Texans drop their first Week 12 injury report.
In the meantime, the Texans will start backup Davis Mills, who led Houston to an incredible Week 10 comeback victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Houston should be able to grab a win in Week 11, also, thanks to a matchup with the lowly Tennessee Titans, but things will be much more difficult in a Week 12 contest against the Bills.
