The Houston Texans won't have the services of their kicker, Ka'imi Fairbairn, in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In his place, the Texans are deploying Matthew Wright, who was signed to the active roster on Saturday, the team announced.
Wright is well-traveled during his career, appearing in games with seven different teams. In 2025, he has played in one game apiece for the Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders.
Since entering the league in 2020, Wright has totaled a field goal success rate of 87.5% and an extra point success rate of 95.6%.
Why Ka'imi Fairbairn isn't kicking for Texans
Fairbairn was added to the injury report on Wednesday due to a right quadriceps issue. He did not practice at all during the week before being ruled out on Friday.
It remains to be seen how long Fairbairn will be sidelined, but given the fact that he was not placed on injured reserve, the Texans don't expect him to miss more than three games.
Fairbairn has had some struggles this season, but he has still been solid overall, with the veteran kicker making 88% of his field goals and all of his extra points.
Wright will have big shoes to fill on Sunday.
