Texans' C.J. Stroud on track to make unwanted history vs. Patriots image

The Houston Texans are struggling to keep their heads afloat against the New England Patriots, with Mike Vrabel's defense laying a beatdown on C.J. Stroud.

In a tough first half, Stroud has thrown four interceptions and has helped the Patriots set up in good field position time and time again.

The four interceptions in a playoff game have Stroud on track to create a piece of history he wants no part of.

The NFL record for interceptions thrown in a playoff game is six, with Brett Favre, Norm Van Brocklin, Bobby Layne, and Frank Filchock all owning the record.

Stroud is on track to at least join those four, and I'd bet he really doesn't want to.

Stroud has to protect the football

If the Texans are to dig themselves out of this huge hole that Stroud has played a role in digging, they are going to have to protect the football.

Four first-half interceptions are a recipe for disaster, and the Patriots' defense has feasted.

Leading 21-10 at halftime, thanks in huge part to Houston's interceptions, the Patriots are in control of the contest, but Stroud will likely have to throw his team to a win with the run game non-existent.

And that means more chances for interceptions and a chance at potentially breaking the record.
