Nick Chubb injury update brings decent news to Texans image

The Houston Texans are looking at a crucial game on Sunday, and they already know they'll be without quarterback C.J. Stroud as Davis Mills gets the start for the concussed QB.

Houston is hoping to avoid any other injury problems, though.

The 3-5 Texans are taking on the 5-3 Jacksonville Jaguars, a matchup in which a win would give Houston some hope for its chances the rest of the season.

Their chances will be helped in Week 10 on Sunday by Nick Chubb being healthy.

The veteran running back sat out Wednesday's practice with a foot injury.

The news got better Thursday, though, as Chubb was a limited participant, and clips on social media show him appearing to cut without issue.

The Friday injury report will be a big one. If Chubb improves to a full participant, that's as good as all set. If he's still limited, it seems he'd still have a decent chance to play Sunday.

Chubb has been more important than the Texans would've expected, given that Joe Mixon still hasn't shown any signs of returning from his preseason injury.

If Chubb has to sit out Sunday, expect a heavier load for rookie Woody Marks.

The Texans' gameplan is a bit of a mystery given they've had all week to plan for Mills starting rather than Stroud. That could lead to a bit more commitment to the running game, at least if players are healthy.

The Jaguars are dealing with injuries, too, with Travis Hunter out and Brian Thomas Jr. Very iffy to play. It could wind up being a defensive battle that requires solid work on the ground, and the Texans hope Chubb is out there to provide that.
