Houston Texans face defining Monday night test in Seattle image

It’s one of the toughest venues in sports, the original “12th man” which converted over from the Kingdome to Lumen Field in raucous fashion with unprecedented levels of crowd noise. That will be the venue, and the season hangs in the balance.

With a win, the Texans will climb back to .500 thus remaining alive with a faint pulse of playoff possibilities. A loss would drop them to 2-4, pretty much signifying the end of the line. The last team to start in that dubious position and actually reach the post season were the Titans back in 2019.

The Texans have had a mixture of issues, ranging from injuries to porous offensive line play along with questionable play calling. Once again, all eyes will be on QB C.J. Stroud, the face of the franchise, with another prime time outing since last month’s defeat to Baker Mayfield and Tampa on MNF.

The question is will recent wins over Baltimore and Tennessee who combined have only two wins between them, provide enough momentum to start Monday night with sustained scoring drives early. Throw in an extra week of preparation and the timing might be ripe to pull off an upset, especially since Seattle just flew back multiple time zones after taking a victory lap in Jacksonville.

Texans’ fans start their game day pre-coverage hearing the voice of Sean Pendergast on the flagship station KILT AM 610, who offered this to Sporting News. When asked if Monday Night was a do or die, he expressed the following: “It’s been a wild year, a crazy season across the league and pretty much everyone except the Jets are still in it. Winning this game will get the fan base all the way back on board. There’s massive upside to winning this road contest because then you’ll have three straight home games.”

In terms of a particular matchup that Sean’s eager to see on Monday?

“Listen, JSN (Jaxon Smith-Njigba) is leading the league in receiving yards for a reason. He’ll be matched up with last season’s best cover corner in Derek Stingley Jr. That’s going to be watching two technicians going at it and worth the price of admission.”

Oddsmakers have installed Seattle as -3.5 point favorites.
