The Green Bay Packers have one of the most crowded wide receiver rooms in the entire NFL — a situation that bodes well for quarterback Jordan Love. Love is expected to have a strong season, especially since the team’s success will largely depend on his performance.
“It’s Jordan Love time. Only one offensive player on the roster (two-time Pro Bowl guard Elgton Jenkins), and three players in total, predate the quarterback’s time with the team. He’s on a top-of-market deal, so the onus is on him to start lifting his teammates rather than the other way around. The roster’s still solid, but competitions at left tackle and receiver will help set the course for how far the team can go, and Love’s work through any bumps at those spots will be key,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote.
One player under scrutiny during training camp has been wide receiver Romeo Doubs. Concerns have mounted about his spot on the roster, especially after he chose not to return from injury when medically cleared.
“At this time one year ago, Doubs was part of a stable of promising pass-catchers, but heading into Saturday’s game, he’s one of the players on Green Bay’s chopping block,” wrote Chris Schad of Dairyland Express. “Doubs also admitted that he decided against returning from the injury in time for joint practices against the Indianapolis Colts last week, saying ‘I made a decision and that’s that,’” according to John Miller of NBC 26 in Green Bay.
With the Packers’ receiver room loaded and Doubs’ future uncertain, there’s speculation about a potential trade. One scenario sees Doubs heading to Tennessee, where he could take on a larger role.
“Yet, Tennessee's wide receiver group still lacks quality depth behind Calvin Ridley. The Titans added Tyler Lockett, who's past his prime in his age-33 term, and Van Jefferson, a No. 3 or 4 option at best with modest production in recent years. With a decent trade offer, Tennessee can attempt to pluck a solid No. 2 wideout from Green Bay's crowded pass-catching group,” Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton wrote.

At this point, Doubs may simply need a change of scenery. His situation in Green Bay appears to be growing more frustrating — and that rarely ends well. For now, he remains a Packer, but in the NFL, that could change at any moment. A move to Tennessee could be a major boost for Will Levis and the Titans’ thin receiver corps.
