Packers reveal injury status for Micah Parsons, Jayden Reed for Week 1 vs. Lions image

Basically, the Green Bay Packers don't quite know yet.

That's the summary of their Friday injury report. Micah Parsons and Jayden Reed have both officially been called questionable for Week 1.

The Packers take on the Detroit Lions in the late afternoon window on Sunday.

It's a busy questionable list for the Packers. Joining Parsons and Reed are Nate Hobbs, Dontayvion Wicks, Barryn Sorrell, Savion Williams and Zayne Anderson.

Parsons is dealing with a back injury, which popped up a bit out of nowhere earlier in the week.

"Packers LB Micah Parsons has been dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back and he may take an epidural injection prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Lions if needed to help him play, per sources," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote earlier this week on X. "Before trading Parsons last week, the Cowboys prescribed him a five-day plan of an anti-Inflammatory corticosteroid, a prednisone to help him recover from back tightness. They also had him on a physical therapy program. Parsons has been practicing this week and he is trying to play in Sunday’s opener vs. the Lions, though one source said it still is uncertain if he will."

Reed is dealing with a foot injury, per the injury report. He had missed Wednesday's practice entirely, so working his way to questionable is a good sign.

Wicks and Williams are also receivers along with Reed. It feels like some portion of this group has to play, but it's not yet clear who it'll be.

Green Bay will likely rely heavily on Romeo Doubs and first-round rookie Matthew Golden as Jordan Love's top WR targets.

And they'll certainly be hoping to have Parsons out there after his blockbuster acquisition in a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. He could be key to throwing off the timing for Jared Goff and the Detroit offense in a huge divisional clash right off the bat.
