The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons have yet to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Parsons has been seeking a new deal throughout the offseason, and while the Cowboys appear willing to meet his demands financially, team owner Jerry Jones chose a route that Parsons wasn’t happy with — attempting to negotiate the deal without involving Parsons' agent.

“The fact that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys’ operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted.

As a result, Parsons reportedly requested a trade. However, it's still unclear whether the Cowboys will honor that request. Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers have unexpectedly entered the conversation, generating some buzz around a potential move.

“I infamously put Jaire at 0.01%. FWIW - I’m putting Parsons at like 5%. Trust me when I say I’m as skeptical as anyone. But there does seem to be some sort of buzz,” Packers reporter Andy Herman wrote.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has publicly acknowledged the team's interest in a player of Parsons’ caliber.

“Any time there's players available of that caliber you're trying to acquire them,” Gutekunst said.

Still, many believe the Packers are simply a side story in a much bigger drama that will ultimately end with Parsons staying in Dallas.

“The Packers are a secondary character in a soap opera that likely ends with Micah Parsons getting a huge deal from Dallas,” Packers Wire’s Zach Kruse posted.

The entire Parsons saga has created some cautious optimism among Packers fans. However, if Dallas ends up extending Parsons — as many expect — it could be a letdown for those holding out hope. While the buzz is real, not everyone is buying into it just yet.
