The Micah Parsons era in Green Bay kicked off with a statement win, as the Packers beat the Detroit Lions 27-13 on Sunday at Lambeau Field. Parsons made his presence felt, recording his first sack with the team late in the fourth quarter.

Green Bay’s defense controlled the game from the start, holding Detroit to just six points through the first three quarters. On the other side, the offense set the tone early with 17 points before halftime and added 10 more in the fourth to put the game away.

Offensive linemen in the NFC North have been put on notice that they will need to go toe to toe with Parsons for the foreseeable future. One of the players who will be taking on the new Packers edge rusher is Penei Sewell.

After the win over the Lions, Parsons shared an honest comment regarding taking on Sewell year after year now that he's in Green Bay.

"I'm not gonna be able to get rid of him," Parsons said postgame (h/t Matt Schneidman of The Athletic). "He's a hell of a player. I told him, I said, 'You're my new rivalry now. I don't got [Philadelphia Eagles' Lane Johnson] no more. It's gonna be you. I'mma see you twice a year, so you might as well buckle up.'"

Parsons is getting up to game speed after a contract hold-in during his final days with the Cowboys. Green Bay eased him into the matchup with Detroit, but he still made an impact with a sack.

Now, the Packers will turn their attention to Thursday Night Football against the Washington Commanders at Lambeau Field. Both teams made the playoffs last season and opened 1-0, each aiming for a 2-0 start to the campaign.
