The Green Bay Packers landed an absolute steal in Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys. For a while, the Packers were rumored to be favorites to acquire Parsons — and eventually, they struck gold. After months of being caught in a contract dispute, Parsons finally got his long-awaited escape from Dallas.

Immediately following the trade, Parsons was awarded a massive contract extension — one that shattered league records and reset the market. The deal was life-changing for Parsons, who was able to retire his mother. But it also had ripple effects within the NFC North, particularly for the Detroit Lions. Star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson is nearing his own extension, and thanks to Parsons’ deal, the price tag just got higher.

“The Packers might have gotten a double whammy out of this. Micah Parsons’ new deal — at $47M per year — could directly impact the division rival Lions, who are actively negotiating with Aidan Hutchinson. Parsons and Green Bay just blew the doors off the market. We’ll see if it ends up affecting it or not,” NFL insider Ari Meirov posted.

While that’s a financial headache for Detroit, an even tougher challenge comes Thursday night — when a rookie right tackle is set to face Parsons. Last week, even Lions star Penei Sewell struggled to contain him.

“The Lions couldn’t block Micah Parsons with Penei Sewell and help. The Commanders will start a rookie RT on Thursday night,” Locked On Packers’ Peter Bukowski wrote.

This is a massive opportunity for Parsons, who’s already making a huge impact in Green Bay. If teams double him, he opens up lanes for teammates. If they don’t, he can dominate solo. Either way, Thursday night’s home game is shaping up to be another showcase — and Green Bay fans may be treated to a multi-sack performance from their newest star.
