Packers’ Micah Parsons, Jayden Reed both get concerning injury updates for Week 1 vs. Lions image

The Green Bay Packers are set to play one of their most anticipated season openers in recent memory.

That's because of Micah Parsons, the new trade acquisition, and it's also because across from them will be the defending NFC North champion Detroit Lions.

It's a huge game right off the bat, and it's in Lambeau Field.

Parsons needs to be healthy, though, as do the rest of the Packers, to have the best chance of beating Detroit.

The week's initial injury report came out Wednesday with some updates.

Micah Parsons injury update

Micah Parsons was listed as a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.

He's dealing with a back injury, which popped up a bit out of nowhere earlier in the week.

"Packers LB Micah Parsons has been dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back and he may take an epidural injection prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Lions if needed to help him play, per sources," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote earlier this week on X. "Before trading Parsons last week, the Cowboys prescribed him a five-day plan of an anti-Inflammatory corticosteroid, a prednisone to help him recover from back tightness. They also had him on a physical therapy program. Parsons has been practicing this week and he is trying to play in Sunday’s opener vs. the Lions, though one source said it still is uncertain if he will."

The limited participation is a good sign. By Sunday, Parsons will likely be good to go.

Jayden Reed injury update

Jayden Reed is dealing with a foot injury, per the injury report.

On Wednesday, he didn't participate in practice. That puts his status for Sunday in doubt.

The Packers got limited participation from receivers Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams.

Christian Watson will be out, but Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden are set to go at WR. If Reed misses time, it'll mean more action for the playmaking Williams (hamstring), assuming he can go.
