Packers' Matthew Golden reveals why he almost made costly mistake image

Matthew Golden didn't score a touchdown during his rookie regular season with the Green Bay Packers.

But in his first career playoff game, Golden put together a sweet catch-and-run to find the end zone.

It wasn't enough as the Packers fell to the Bears, but it had a cool subplot, too.

After the play, fellow Green Bay WR Christian Watson noticed Golden was potentially about to take his helmet off.

Watson rushed over to prevent that, because it would've earned a 15-yard penalty.

Now, we know what Golden was thinking. He chimed in on social media to share that he just was fixing his headband.

This may imply Golden was just messing with his headpiece underneath the helmet, rather than taking the whole thing off.

Regardless, it was cool awareness from Watson, one teammate looking out for another.

It didn't end up making a difference in the Packers' season, and so Green Bay's talented WR group is now home watching the rest of the playoffs.

But Golden and Watson should both be back next year, hoping to take the Packers deeper into January next time around.
