Packers' Malik Willis predicted to leave Green Bay to replace Hall of Fame QB image

It's going to be tough for the Green Bay Packers to keep Malik Willis.

Their backup QB has been too impressive in his fill-in opportunities for Jordan Love. When Willis' contract is up at the end of this season and he hits free agency, the market for his services will surely be strong.

That raises the intriguing question, of course, of where he will end up.

Bleacher Report's Alex Kay threw out an idea in a new article that hasn't been discussed much: Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are very possibly looking at an Aaron Rodgers retirement. And if that happens, they'll need a QB, and they won't be picking high enough in the draft to land a sure thing there.

That would make Willis a potentially strong fit.

"Although Willis struggled to find his footing after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2022, he has fared well in limited action backing up Jordan Love for the Green Bay Packers," Kay writes. "It's worth gambling on the upside he's displayed in Titletown, potentially giving Pittsburgh a quality starter at a budget cost (Spotrac estimates Willis' market value at just $10.6 million per year)."

Willis has improved his accuracy and decision-making in a major way under Matt LaFleur in Green Bay.

He always had the movement skills and the strong arm, so when all that combines, it makes for an enticing package.

If Rodgers decides to stick around and the Steelers decide to give him another season, that would complicate things.

But if not, Willis could be the perfect option, a potential bridge QB who could also turn out to be much more.
