The Packers’ wide receiver room is one of the best in the entire NFL, and Jordan Love is a great quarterback to complement them. However, injuries have already taken a toll. Before the season even started, WR Jayden Reed suffered a Jones fracture, an injury that typically requires surgery.

“Jayden Reed is going to play through a fracture in his foot that usually requires surgery and months of recovery,” Packers Wire’s Zach Kruse wrote.

While playing through that injury, Reed suffered another injury last Thursday against the Washington Commanders—a fracture in his collarbone area. The expected recovery time for this injury was soon revealed.

“The hope is that it’s a 6-8 week injury for Jayden Reed, which would bring him back in November,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport posted.

The extended time off for the collarbone injury allowed Reed to do something he should have done earlier: get surgery on his Jones fracture.

“Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed wound up undergoing surgery Tuesday on both a broken clavicle and a Jones fracture in his left foot. ‘Successful foot & clavicle surgery thank you God,’ Reed posted on social media. He now is out indefinitely,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote.

The collarbone injury has proven to be a blessing in disguise, as Reed is now able to address both injuries at once.

“The Packers have the WR depth to survive a Reed injury. Plus the early bye in there helps as well. It could provide a small blessing in disguise as it also allows his foot some likely valuable time to heal. Hopefully Reed can be closer to 100% for the stretch run,” Packer Report’s Andy Herman wrote.

Reed will now rehab both injuries instead of just one, allowing him to return fully healthy. Meanwhile, Matthew Golden should see an increase in production with Reed out. Even with another hit to the WR room, the Packers defense has been extraordinary. For Reed, though he is battling two injuries, healing both is the best-case scenario.
