The Jaire Alexander trade rumors have never really hit full throttle.
The Green Bay Packers could still be looking to trade their star cornerback, though. But one recent thought suggests Alexander will be staying put.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler broke it down in a new article of intel out Wednesday.
Here's what Fowler wrote:
"The Packers passing on cornerback for the first six rounds seems to signify that Jaire Alexander is staying with the team, barring a unique trade offer or a contractual stalemate.
"The Packers and Alexander are working on a resolution that should materialize soon. A revised contract for Alexander, due $17.5 million in cash this year, to balance his injury history with his longtime status as an elite corner might be the most sensible play."

There you have it. Alexander's contract might be altered from that $17.5 million number, but Fowler thinks a deal will get done to keep the star CB in Green Bay.
The Packers are a team with an on-the-rise offense, so it's key to keep a stout defender on the other side.
Alexander has played seven seasons with the Packers and intercepted 12 passes. His performances have been a little up and down in recent years, but he's generally regarded as one of the NFL's top shutdown corners.
Green Bay probably could've dealt him during the draft for a decent pick, but now that he's still in town, it makes sense to keep him around.
Alexander can still be a big part of the Packers winning games, and this latest report suggests that impact will continue.
