The Green Bay Packers have a slew of decisions to make on free agents in 2026, with one of the more notable ones being wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
A fourth-round pick of the Packers in 2022, Doubs has developed into a quality starting wide receiver over his four seasons in the league and is set to hit free agency in 2026.
When it comes to expectations for his future with the team, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Packers are expected to part ways with Doubs in 2026.
"The Packers are expected to part ways with free agent Romeo Doubs, who will do well on the open market," Fowler wrote.
Not exactly a shocking development.
The Packers are set to once again have a crowded wide receivers room next season, with guys like wideouts Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden and Savion Williams all under contract.
As a result, it wouldn't make much sense for Green Bay to spend the money to keep Doubs, especially given the fact he isn't even the team's No. 1 wideout and is likely their No. 3, at best, behind Watson and Reed.
We would also suspect that Doubs may not want to return, as he'll likely be looking for a situation that gives him a better opportunity for targets.
Spotrac projects Doubs will land a four-year, $47.2 million deal in free agency, which works out to $11.8 million annually. That would just be too rich for the Packers to pay with so many other talented wide receivers on the roster.
Green Bay would be better served spending that money on a need rather than adding to a position that is already a strength.
But that would be a solid price for a team looking for a No. 2 option, something we believe Doubs could be for a lot of teams.
