The Green Bay Packers will have a tough decision to make next year when it comes to wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who will be a free agent.
Doubs has been one of the team's more reliable pass-catchers in recent years and he no doubt has a strong connection with quarterback Jordan Love.
However, the Packers are absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position, both now and through next season.
Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks are all signed through 2026 and the team drafted Savion Williams and Matthew Golden in 2025.
As a result of their situation, ESPN's Rob Demovsky believes Doubs returning next year is not a given. Here's what Demovsky said about Doubs' future in Green Bay.
At times, he has been Jordan Love's go-to receiver, especially on third down. But there's a difference between a go-to receiver and a No. 1 receiver, and he hasn't quite been the latter. The Packers already signed fellow receiver Christian Watson (from the same 2022 draft class) to a short-term extension before he came back from his knee injury this season. And they will likely have extensions coming up in 2027 for Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. Plus, they have 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden.
With such a crowded wide receivers room, it's going to be difficult to justify paying Doubs in 2026, especially with Reed, Wicks and tight end Tucker Kraft being extension candidates in due time.
But even if the Packers do want to keep him, it's possible Doubs will want to leave for a team that gives him a better opportunity to see more targets.
Ultimately, it wouldn't be surprising to see Doubs playing elsewhere in 2026.
