Packers' connection to John Harbaugh adds to Matt LaFleur firing rumors image

The Green Bay Packers have a Matt LaFleur decision to make.

Does the head coach get fired after a playoff loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday? That blown lead by Green Bay was certainly painful. And, most intriguingly, they've got a connection to John Harbaugh.

Not many would've expected that Harbaugh would be available on the head coach market this offseason.

But then the Ravens went from Super Bowl favorites to missing the playoffs entirely, and Harbaugh was out of his job after 18 years at the helm in Baltimore.

Now, he's the top candidate available. And if the Packers wanted to move on from LaFleur, they've got a strong link to Harbaugh.

This is what ESPN's Adam Schefter posted on X on Sunday:

"Former Packers President Bob Harlan is royalty in Green Bay. His son Bryan is an agent who represents John Harbaugh. John Harbaugh has deep midwestern roots and ties. If the Packers decide they want to change head coaches, Harbaugh would be the most logical replacement."

That certainly sounds incredibly compelling.

Harbaugh has been linked to pretty much every opening, including the Dolphins, who didn't fire Mike McDaniel until Harbaugh became available.

He had made the decision reportedly last week not to do any of his interviews until this week ahead. That certainly pointed to a playoff team or two being in the mix for him.

The Packers would make a lot of sense, if they want to take the big swing to dismiss LaFleur and chase down Harbaugh.
