The Green Bay Packers will begin their 2025 season on Sunday afternoon against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field, but it remains to be seen if superstar linebacker Micah Parsons will suit up.

Parsons was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys that cost the Packers two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.

Along with Parsons, the Packers also received the four-time Pro Bowler's back injury. The newest Packer was limited at practice all week and ended up as questionable on the team's final injury report on Friday.

But we now have an update on his status ahead of Week 1. Here's the latest.

Is Micah Parsons playing today?

Despite the questionable tag, Parsons is indeed expected to play in Week 1 against the Lions, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. However, Rapoport adds that Parsons will be limited in the contest and will likely only rush the passer.

"Parsons, by the way, is expected to make his debut for the Packers on Sunday against the Lions, sources say, despite a facet joint sprain in his back that left him limited in practice this week and questionable on Friday's injury report," Rapoport wrote.

"It won't be a full complement of plays, however, and Parsons likely will focus on rushing the passer (as opposed to moving around the defense)," Rapoport added. "There will be a ramp-up period to make sure when he does play fully and is integrated, his body is ready.

It's not surprising to see the Packers hesitant to fully unleash Parsons. After all, he is working his way back from an injury and didn't have a full training camp to prepare.

The Packers have their eyes on the Super Bowl and need to make sure Parsons is available when it counts, which is the postseason.

Regardless, it looks like one of the most highly-anticipated debuts in the entire NFL this week is going to happen and that will only add more juice to the Packers' divisional showdown versus the Lions.
