Matt LaFleur gives timeline for Green Bay Packers' decision on head coach's future image

There has been no shortage of speculation on the future of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur after the team's brutal wild-card loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday night.

Going one-and-done in the playoffs was bad enough, but the fact that the Packers blew a massive lead in the second half only made it worse and now it feels more possible than ever that LaFleur will get fired.

LaFleur addressed the media on Sunday evening and revealed he spoke with Packers CEO Ed Policy on Saturday night, but the two are set to have another conversation Sunday night or Monday, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

"Packers coach Matt LaFleur said he and team president Ed Policy spoke briefly on the flight home last night. He said he expects them to talk again either later tonight or tomorrow," Demovsky wrote.

We would assume that meeting will indeed be about LaFleur's future, so we should find out which way the Packers will go in the next day or two.

Of course, LaFleur said he wants to stay as the Packers head coach.

"This is one of one. I love this place," LaFleur said.

Prior to Saturday's loss to Chicago, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport not only reported that LaFleur was safe, even if the Packers lost in the playoffs, but he also noted that Green Bay would talk to LaFleur about an extension as he enters the final year of his deal in 2026.

Of course, that was before the Packers' ugly collapse against the Bears in the wild-card game, so it's very possible things have changed as a result.

Whatever the case may be, it shouldn't be long before we find out LaFleur's fate in Green Bay.
