Since August, the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons had been locked in a public dispute over the direction of his contract extension talks. Team owner Jerry Jones reportedly tried to negotiate a deal without involving Parsons' agent, which didn’t sit well with the star linebacker. The situation escalated, prompting Parsons to request a trade out of Dallas.
“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,”Parsons posted.
Now, Parsons is officially a member of the Green Bay Packers after being traded. He missed the preseason with a back injury — an absence many speculated was simply a cover for his unwillingness to play for the Cowboys. However, his agent cleared the air.
“Never. I mean, Micah loves the game too much. He was going to play the game no matter what. He had a back injury. I know a lot of people like to put the quotations around the back injury, but he had a back injury,” David Mulugheta said.
In Week 1, the Packers face the Detroit Lions — a true NFC North rivalry. Now that the Lions know Parsons will be suiting up for Green Bay, head coach Dan Campbell says they’re ready.
“We'll have a plan.” Campbell said.

Campbell, known for his fiery attitude and aggressive style, isn’t backing down from the challenge of dealing with Parsons and the Packers' defensive front. He knows how critical a Week 1 win is — both for momentum and tone-setting.
Whether Parsons makes an immediate impact or Campbell finds a way to neutralize him, one thing is clear: preparing for Micah Parsons is a top priority for the Lions heading into Sunday.
