The Green Bay Packers have a deep and talented wide receiver room, and one of the most promising additions is rookie Matthew Golden, who has continued to impress throughout the offseason. However, there’s another storyline developing, as WR Jayden Reed works to return from an injury sustained during training camp.
“LaFleur said that the boot was unrelated to the pre-existing toe injury Reed had coming into training camp. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a source informed him that Reed was dealing with a sprained foot,” CBS Sports’ Brent Brookhouse wrote.
Like the rest of the receiving corps, Reed has been making steady progress in his recovery. Recently, he was spotted without a walking boot, which appeared to be a positive sign for his return.
“Jayden Reed is out of his walking boot but not practicing. He walks out to practice here in Westfield with Romeo Doubs, Savion Williams and Dontayvion Wicks, all also not practicing. Christian Watson obviously out, too,” The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman wrote.
However, it turns out Reed’s injury has been significantly downplayed. Reports now suggest it’s much more serious than initially indicated.
“Jayden Reed is going to play through a fracture in his foot that usually requires surgery and months of recovery,” Packers Wire’s Zach Kruse wrote.

This new information helps explain some of the Packers' recent roster decisions at the wide receiver position.
“It could also explain why the Packers kept six wide receivers on the 53-man roster and three others on the practice squad. The team is easing Dontayvion Wicks back from a calf injury, while Christian Watson will miss at least four games on the PUP list,” Lombardi Ave’s Freddie Boston wrote.
While Reed’s determination to play through the injury is commendable, it comes with significant risk. One wrong move could lead to a season-ending setback. The Packers will need to manage the situation carefully to avoid jeopardizing his long-term health and availability.
