The Detroit Lions' offense was dealt a tough blow earlier in the season after tight end Sam LaPorta suffered a significant injury.
LaPorta suffered a back injury in the Week 10 win over the Washington Commanders that led to his placement on injured reserve.
That meant LaPorta was forced to miss at least four games, but he has been out a lot longer than that, and there's a good chance he might be done for the season.
Here's everything we know about LaPorta's injury and return timeline.
Sam LaPorta injury update
The specifics of LaPorta's back injury remain unknown, but we do know he needed surgery to correct his issue.
Unfortunately, Lions head coach Dan Campbell cast serious doubt on LaPorta's ability to return this season.
Sam LaPorta return timeline
While LaPorta has been eligible to return from injured reserve since Week 15, he has yet to be activated and there's no indication he will come off the list.
According to Lions head coach Dan Campbell, the chances of LaPorta returning this season are "very, very slim," but Campbell did note that he does not expect his star tight end to have any long-term lingering issues following back surgery.
"I think we would be fortunate to have a chance to get him back for the rest of the season," Campbell said. "I think that's very, very slim."
