We have never seen a first half quite like the one that Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Through two quarters of play, Gibbs has just five rushing yards on six carries and two catches for 13 yards. He has not found pay dirt, either.
Gibbs has been an elite running back this season, both in terms of fantasy football and real life, so this is shocking, to say the least, and it comes at the worst time because it's the fantasy football playoffs this week.
Here's what happened to Gibbs for him to struggle as badly as he did.
What happened to Jahmyr Gibbs?
It's a combination of things, really.
The Lions' blocking upfront has been awful, plain and simple, and some credit goes to the Steelers' defense, which has been playing the run at a high level on Sunday.
Furthermore, the Lions' offense as a whole has struggled, so Gibbs hasn't gotten any scoring opportunities. It also doesn't help that Gibbs dropped a pass.
Hopefully better things will be ahead for Gibbs in the second half against Pittsburgh, but it's hard to say that will be the case.
