Always expect creative plays from the Detroit Lions. You never know exactly when they'll strike, but you can bet it will happen.

On Monday night, the Lions delivered a creative spark vs. the Baltimore Ravens, finally unleashing the trick play that wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown revealed they had been teasing for weeks. The trick play ended with running back Jahmyr Gibbs sprinting into the end zone, giving the Lions a go-ahead touchdown.

“I feel like, for me, just my heart kind of gets leveled,” Gibbs told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt post-game. “I’m not too high. I’m not too low. I’m in the flow of the game. I stay neutral.

“I knew what the play was. I’m like, ‘Okay, this is the play.’ I think the play call was perfect. We got the route that we wanted. Everything worked out.”

The play was a pitch-and-run from St. Brown to Gibbs. Quarterback Jared Goff handed the ball to St. Brown, who ran to the right and then pitched out wide to Gibbs, who ran untouched for a 4-yard touchdown. The gadget play caught the Ravens defense off guard and gave Detroit the momentum it needed late in the game.

“The plan with Gibbs, we’ve been working on that for over a year,” St. Brown said. “Funny story, Gibbs, in the meeting room this week, he goes, ‘We have that planned every week and we never call it.’ I said, ‘Just because you said that, we’re calling it this week.’ And sure enough, we called it.”
