John Cena, whom many believe to be the greatest pro wrestler in the history of WWE, retired Saturday night after having the final match of his career in a losing effort to former world champion Gunther. The pop culture icon received well wishes from teams all over the NFL and the rest of the sports world, as well as players giving their well-wishes to the 17-time world champion.

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs got in on the fun ahead of the Lions' Week 15 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. Gibbs arrived to the stadium wearing Cena's No. 54 college jersey. The Lions' social media accounts posted the image with the caption "Word Life," the two words from Cena's former theme song during his "Doctor of Thuganomics" character run.

Cena went to Springfield college, a Division-III program. He was a captain and All-American.

This isn't the first time Gibbs has paid homage to a wrestling star this season. He dressed up as Jeff Hardy for a Halloween party, sporting a black tank top, baggy pants, boots, and arm sleeves.

The Lions currently sit outside the NFC playoff picture with an 8-5 record. They will need a win, as well as help from the Cleveland Browns to bear the Chicago Bears in order to claim the No. 7 spot. The 9-4 San Francisco 49ers also sit in front of the Lions, and they face the Tennessee Titans.
