The Detroit Lions, and quarterback Jared Goff, were definitely in need of a bounceback.

They found it and then some on Sunday in a 52-21 rout of the Chicago Bears.

In the process, Goff found his way into the record books in two ways, with these stats coming via ESPN.

The first: Goff is the first Lions QB ever to throw five touchdowns in the same game with an 80% completion percentage.

Goff finished 23-for-28 (82.1%) for 334 yards to go with the five TDs. He wasn't sacked or intercepted.

And in the process, Goff moved into second place in franchise history in touchdown passes.

Bobby Layne had thrown 118. Layne had held the Detroit record from the moment he threw his 26th touchdown pass onward, until Matthew Stafford came along and ended up with 282.

Goff now has 121 and has passed Layne. He likely won't ever get to Stafford, but it's still a cool spot to reside.

For Goff, it's all a bit of redemption after the Rams essentially dumped him for Stafford. To have proven he belongs as a strong starting QB in Detroit has to feel good for Goff.

And this week was crucial for the Lions, who didn't want to start 0-2 in a strong division, and who needed their quarterback to lead their charge back to early contention.

Goff threw three TDs to Amon-Ra St. Brown and one apiece to Jameson Williams and Brock Wright. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery each rushed for a score, too.

It was a great day, and a historic one for Goff.
