The Detroit Lions' Week 10 game versus the Washington Commanders saw a player get ejected after defensive lineman Daron Payne landed a punch on wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Payne threw the punch at St. Brown after a play in the second quarter. Not only was Payne ejected, but he was also hit with a one-game suspension that was upheld on appeal.

On Tuesday, Lions quarterback Jared Goff was a guest on 97.1 The Ticket and was asked for his thoughts about the punch. In his comment, Goff got spicy and threw clear shade at ESPN and NFL Films analyst Louis Riddick.

"He jumped offside, I told him he jumped offside, he said I know," Goff said of Javon Kinlaw. "I don't know why he was so excited about jumping offside, but he was. And that was before (Payne) punched (St. Brown) in the face, so I can’t wait to see Louis Riddick break that one down for us this week on Turning Point."

Of course, Goff is referencing the controversial video NFL Films put out on Lions safety Brian Branch, who started a post-game brawl after the Week 6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In that video, Riddick did a full breakdown of Branch's struggles in the game and made the case that those struggles were the reason Branch firing a punch at Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, which was a bad look for NFL Films.

“It was a long game for Lions safety Brian Branch, number 32,” Riddick said in the video. “He got burned by (Travis) Kelce’s basketball move. He got showed up by (Patrick) Mahomes. He got juked by Xavier Worthy and took a shot from JuJu Smith-Schuster. The turning point led to Branch’s boiling point.”

After the game, Branch admitted what he did was "childish" but also explained that he was "tired of people doing stuff in between the play and refs don't catch it."

Clearly, NFL Films agreed that breakdown was done in poor taste, as it later deleted the video and apologized for it, as did Riddick.

“NFL Films wants all of its shows to have a distinct voice and point of view. In the case of ‘NFL Turning Point,’ that voice and point of view is Louis Riddick’s," NFL Films said in a statement. "He spends time every week with the show’s producers watching each segment and going over the script before narrating them.

"That particular sequence felt different to NFL Films as part of a 9-minute breakdown of the Lions-Chiefs game than it did as a standalone excerpt on social media. On X, it felt overly critical to Brian Branch so it was taken down.”

Spicy Jared Goff is our favorite Jared Goff. We don't get to see it often, but when we do, it's always fun.

Kudos to Goff for finding yet another way to defend his teammate, who was done dirty by NFL Films.
