The Detroit Lions waited all the way until the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft to address their need along the edge, and they did so by drafting Boise State product, Ahmed Hassanein.

Hassanein was very productive over his final two years at Boise State. In 2023, he posted a personal best 12.5 sacks. Then, in 2024, Hassanein finished his collegiate career with 9.5.

Shortly after he was drafted by the Lions, Hassanein spoke to the media and it was immediately clear why Detroit likes him. We also anticipate that he's going to be popular among Lions fans.

Here's some of the quotes that left beat reporters impressed with him, per Erik Schlitt of Pride of Detroit.

“(This is) the perfect fit for me.”

“I never stop... I’ll never settle.”

“Relentlessness, 100 miles per hour on every play.”

“I’m ready to die on the football field for those who believe in me.”

He also added that he's "consistent in doing my job. I don't do my own thing. I do my job."

When it was all said and done, Lions media came away with a very positive impression of the Lions' sixth-round pick.

"Ahmed Hassanein is really an impressive young man. He's got a great story of how he started football and got to NFL," Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com wrote.

"Ahmed Hassanein's press conference isn't over yet. Just popping in to say he's going to be a fan favorite. Guy said he's willing to die on the field," The Athletic's Colton Pouncy said.

"I am a Ahmed Hassanein fan for the rest of my life. What a bolt of energy and positivity," Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit wrote.

If you were to create a Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes guy in a lab, he would sound exactly like Hassanein.
