The Detroit Lions made a significant change on offense in the Week 10 game against the Washington Commanders.

During the game, it was clear that head coach Dan Campbell was calling the plays instead of offensive coordinator John Morton, which amounts to a huge shift in how the Lions run their offense.

And the early returns are good, as the Lions dropped 44 points and totaled 546 yards of offense in the win over the Commanders.

When asked about why the change was made, Campbell pointed to simply wanting to do something different in order to find some rhythm in the offense.

“Let’s try something a little different,” Campbell said, according to Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman. “Look, I know what I want to do, I know how I want to do it. Now, that being said, this is a collaborative effort, now. I was taking input from John Morton the whole time, and the other coaches."

"But I just wanted to change things up a little bit. Let’s just see if maybe a different play-caller can, maybe give us a little rhythm," Campbell added. "That’s all. And, honestly, it’s nothing more than that.”

Center Graham Glasgow was asked about Campbell taking over play-calling duties and went into detail about why the Lions trust him in that role.

"He looks really big and strong, so if he's making decisions, it's probably right," the Lions center joked, according to The Detroit News' Richard Silva. "All jokes aside, I think that he's a football guy and I feel like he has a good... Finger on the pulse... For what we need to do. He's a great coach."

One thing that definitely helped the Lions turn things around on offense on Sunday was the fact that the offensive line played much better than it did the week prior.

It also didn't hurt that the Commanders sport one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

Campbell's play-calling skills will have a tougher test in Week 11, with a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on tap.
