The Denver Broncos are short-handed at the running back position for their Week 11 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, as J.K. Dobbins has been ruled out.

And, not only has Dobbins been ruled out, he's also been placed on injured reserve due to the foot injury he suffered in Week 10.

That means Dobbins will miss at least the next four games, but there is a concern that the veteran running back won't play again this season.

Here's the latest injury update on Dobbins.

Will J.K. Dobbins return this season?

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Dobbins' has a torn ligament in his foot that will require surgery and force him to miss the rest of the season.

"The Broncos running back will require season-ending surgery for his foot injury, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Saturday, per sources," NFL.com's Michael Baca wrote.

ESPN's Adam Schefter added that Dobbins does have a chance to play again this season, but only if the Broncos make a run to the Super Bowl.

Who is J.K. Dobbins' handcuff?

That would be rookie running back RJ Harvey, who has served as the clear-cut No. 2 rusher behind Dobbins all season long.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton confirmed that Harvey would see an increased workload in Dobbins' absence, and Payton believes Harvey's frame enables the rookie rusher to handle more work moving forward.

"Obviously, he’ll have more opportunities here in this game," Payton said. "He’s built, when you see his frame, he’s built to last, and that’s important.”

For our fantasy football folks out there, Harvey is a must-start running back until further notice.
