The Denver Broncos' offensive line was dealt a tough blow earlier this season when the team lost guard Ben Powers to a significant injury.
Powers suffered a torn biceps injury in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles that is expected to keep him on the shelf for a long time.
As we've seen over the years, a torn biceps injury can end a player's season, so there is a fear that Powers won't be back at all in 2025.
Here's what we know about his rest-of-season status.
Will Ben Powers return in 2025?
According to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, Powers is expected to miss at least two months.
If he returns at the earliest end of that timeline, Powers could make it back by early December. Two months from the date of his injury is Dec. 5, which falls two days before Denver's Week 14 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
So, there is a chance Powers will be back before the end of the regular season, but that has yet to be confirmed and it's still possible he doesn't return at all in 2025.
It was hoped that the Broncos would bring in another guard at the trade deadline, but acquiring a starting-caliber offensive lineman is extremely difficult because teams rarely trade them away, and if they do, it's for a very high price.
It isn't clear if the Broncos were close ahead of the trade deadline, but they ultimately did not make a trade for an offensive lineman.
Alex Palczewski has filled the void the last three games, and admirably so. He hasn't given up any sacks and has surrendered five pressures, which isn't bad considering he's a backup.
That said, the Broncos' offensive line won't be operating at its best until Powers returns. Hopefully the veteran can at least make it back in time for the playoffs.
