Former Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller intends to continue his playing career into the 2026 NFL season.

Miller is coming off a disappointing season with the Washington Commanders, his first with the team, and he turns 37 years old in March. But speaking to John Doran of WUSA-TV, Miller indicated that wanting to move into the next spot on the all-time sack list is his motivation for wanting to continue his career.

"I can't walk away from the game until I pass DeMarcus. I tied him. I definitely will be back next year", said Miller.

This season, Miller tied Ware with 138.5 career sacks. That is tied for ninth-most in NFL history. That is also the most of any active player.

Miller and Ware played together in Denver for three seasons from 2014-16 and Miller has often credited Ware for helping him become a more complete player. Their shining moment together came in Super Bowl 50 when the defense led the way to a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Miller and Ware combined for 4.5 sacks in that game.

If Miller returns for a 15th NFL season, it remains to be seen where that will be. In the same interview, Miller indicates that he wants to play for the Commanders.

"Hopefully, the Commanders want me back. I want to be back. I just think we need a rain check. There's a lot of things that didn't go our way this year, starting with injuries. I'm a huge believer in coach DQ (Dan Quinn) and his coaching style and his whole coaching staff", said Miller.

The Broncos traded Miller to the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 season and he helped them win a Super Bowl. He has played for the Buffalo Bills and Commanders since then.
